Weekend Synopsis

Question: How much does it cost to change a light bulb in the Bear Den?
Answer: $142. $140 to buy a ladder tall enough to reach the light on the vaulted ceiling and $2 for a light bulb. Oh well. At least I have a nice new ladder. And in a spurt of cleaning I also have clean light fixtures throughout the house.

Kitty and I went to go see a couple of art films on Sunday. "Primer" is a low-budget time travel movie that I compared to "Lathe of Heaven." It's an interesting movie, and I'm looking forward to seeing what the director can do in the future with a real budget. The plot got so twisted that I was lost toward the end. The other movie was "Tarnation." This was a total p.o.s. It is a film autobiography of a fucked up film student and his fucked up family. I found it extremely pretentious. Why should I be interested in essentially someone's home movies? Just because it's filled with angst and drama? Shit. I get that and more every day in reading LJ.

I have figured out what's wrong with my Outlook Express but I am still looking for a way to fix it. It is treating every message as an attachment. That's why the message is blank when I open it. Anybody know what setting I need to change to fix that? I am at an end.

Pretty much all of the furry art I have collected over the past year and a half is now proudly displayed on my walls (including a slightly yiffy Rog Minotaur). Kitty and I ran all over the house moving pictures around until everything fit. You all need to stop by the Bear Den to see my gallery. Have a great week, and to those on the East Coast, snuggle down with a mate or a plushie and ride out the storm. *warm bear hugs*

cool beans on the picture gallery,

pretty soon you will have track lighting and everything!

I already had a bunch of wildlife art I had bought in the early 90's, so my house was kinda furry. But now I have Dark Natashas, Rog Minotaurs, Heather Bruton, Kyhote, etc, so it's really furry. Murrrr.

Ladders are nice (:
But then again... Not having a ladder gives you a valid excuse for not fixing certain things =^_^=

[identity profile] sabotlours.livejournal.com 2005-01-24 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)
true. And now I have no excuses. *cries*

[identity profile] tenax.livejournal.com 2005-01-24 03:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Couldn't you have picked up one of those extendable light screwer-thingies? You know, a long thingy for removing the stuff?

Offstage Announcer: Could you be less specific?

Um, the thing for stuff?

[identity profile] sabotlours.livejournal.com 2005-01-24 05:23 pm (UTC)(link)
It would work, but there was a fixture over the bulb. I have to get the fixture off before removing the bulb. Yup. I was pwn3d.

[identity profile] echoweaver.livejournal.com 2005-01-24 04:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh. I always think about that when I look a lovely vaulted and 2-story lighting. I had one of those clamp-on-a-stick things that I used for the stairwell light fixture in my old condo.

[identity profile] sabotlours.livejournal.com 2005-01-24 05:25 pm (UTC)(link)
For 5 years I dreaded the day that the bulb would burn out. Now that I have the ladder, I will use the light more because I am not afraid of having to change it.

[identity profile] tiggycat.livejournal.com 2005-01-25 08:39 am (UTC)(link)
That Light bulb lasted for 5 years! Wow! And I am guessing just a "normal" incandescent bulb. You know you can borrow latters--still they are nice to have around. Also you could go for the compact fluorescent energy efficient lighting--change less often.

[identity profile] overzen.livejournal.com 2005-01-24 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, you finally got up the motivation to replace that lightbulb all the way up there. It only took, what, 3-4 years? ;) Sounds like you're having a good time, hope they continue. *hugs the bear and looks up at the light* Oooh, it's so shiny and bright! *drools*

[identity profile] sabotlours.livejournal.com 2005-01-24 05:26 pm (UTC)(link)
And the spotlight over the fireplace also went out. So I had to replace that one as well. Dang! It was higher than the other one! I had to get out my extension ladder to get to that one.

[identity profile] overzen.livejournal.com 2005-01-24 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
*thinks about the bear changing the lights, then the latter falling out from under and you left hanging by your paws* With the added comment that no harm would come to you in the end, I think that particual image is very amusing...especially when we add your favorite phrase to the mix, "pwn3d!" *giggles and ties the bulb replacing balloon to your tail, to help lift you up next time without the latter* ;)

[identity profile] carol-kitty.livejournal.com 2005-01-24 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Well I did spot him on both ladders. I won't let him change those bulbs by himself...that is all we need a mangled bear. The balloon will come in handy next time.

[identity profile] tiggycat.livejournal.com 2005-01-25 08:44 am (UTC)(link)
*ties a bright piece of yarn to your tail so some young kittens will chase you and get you messed up*

That's for thinking such negative images of the poor sweet bear. *meows to all the kittens*

*joins in the 'coon attack ever watchful of any protector 'coon that may get me*

[identity profile] overzen.livejournal.com 2005-01-25 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Oi! Evil cats everywhere! *puts up the anit-cat forcefield* Silly kitten, I specifically said he wouldn't be hurt through the whole scenario, just that the image of a bear hanging from a light fixture high up on the cealing is rather comical. *ties the bright colored yarn to your tail and chitters for the cats to start hunting you* ;)

[identity profile] tiggycat.livejournal.com 2005-01-25 06:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Me? Evil? Nah... I just a little mew-cat. Ask anyone. Hehe.

And I know you said would not get hurt but you were enjoying the images too much *meows innocent like*

Well I need to go now cuz-- *starts running in circles chasing the yarn on my tail*

[identity profile] akseawolf.livejournal.com 2005-01-24 05:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope you replaced the light bulb with one of those 7-year compact fluorescent bulbs.

Have you tried uninstalling and re-installing Outlook Express?

[identity profile] sabotlours.livejournal.com 2005-01-24 06:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Now that I have the ladder, I am not afraid of blowing another bulb.

Yup. I even installed an earlier version of OE to see if that would help. No help.

Who is your mail provider? Are you using POP3 or IMAP?
How many hugs do you need? ;-)
*hugs*

[identity profile] sabotlours.livejournal.com 2005-01-24 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I am using POP3 as far as I know.
I'll take all the hugs I can get!

It's raining bears! Hallelujah!

I decided when I become ruler of Earth I'm issuing everyone in regions where it snows in feet rather than inches a flame thrower.

I hope that light bulb lasts a log time! :P

[identity profile] tiggycat.livejournal.com 2005-01-25 08:45 am (UTC)(link)
Have you thought about taking pictures of your newly furry decorated place so we all can see? We can't all get out there just now. My transporter is out of order and all.

[identity profile] dabber.livejournal.com 2005-01-25 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, I'd love to come out and see you and the Kitty again. When is Albu-Fur-Que '05? ;)
