I totally agree with the Matt overacting part. I think they wanted that, however, as it matched the super over-the-top feel they were trying for. I have to Disagree with the "Springtime for Hitler" being rushed, it seemed pretty long to me, but then, I've never seen the original.
I liked the movie, but it seems like they tried to do too much movie, not enough musical, and failed at balancing either. Funny stuff, but not great. It could be that it was a parody musical to begin with, but the songs, with the exception of "Springtime" and "Make it Gay", were pretty lame, and I loves me some musicals. So, it failed as a good musical becase the songs sucked, it failed as a movie for trying to be a musical instead, but succeeded as a comedy, because it was hilarious and over the top, and they used sucky songs in funny ways.
I almost think they were trying to do with this movie what the producers were trying to do with the show. It seemed like they chose bad acting, bad production, and threw it up there, almost a parody of itself, and that added to the feel of the humour to me.
