Enjoying Life
Dec. 19th, 2005 08:46 amKitty and I had a nice full weekend. Friday night we went to the "River of Lights" at the Botanical Gardens. Kitty had scored some free passes, so we invited
echoweaver and her husband along. It was nice to get out and walk among the festive lights. I gotta find a contact to see if I can suit the event. Nevada would be perfect there. Afterward we all went out for a nice dinner at Mimi's Cafe.
On Saturday we lazed around most of the day but then headed over to
echoweaver's place for a potluck dinner. They had a great idea; a chocolate tasting! They put out about 10 types of chocolate ranging from 10-20% cocoa all the way up to 75%.
Sunday, Kitty and I headed up to Santa Fe to go to the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum. I have lived here almost 7 years and have never been. I now see that I didn't really miss much. I love her work, but I saw better examples of her art while visiting The Met in New York. The featured exhibit was supposed to compare her flower drawings to those of Andy Warhol. Meh. The exhibit was way too small and not worth the price of admission. Walking down the street we came to the New Mexico Museum of Fine Art. That had a nice collection (and it was free!). We saw works by Norman Rockwell, Salvador Dali, Grandma Moses, Winslow Homer, and Grant Wood. Not bad for a relatively small museum. We had also stopped at one of the galleries that are found all over Santa Fe. Oh, I wish I had a shitload of money! There were some gorgeous bronze bear sculptures. Unfortunately I don't have $10,000 to drop on art like that. So all in all it was a nice weekend to enjoy life.
( And now a mini rant )
