Narnia: My $0.02

I guess I'll add my 2 cents to the pot regarding Narnia. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a nice fantasy movie that I would put in the same category as "LotR." I was able to suspend reality for 2 hours and enjoy myself. There was no deep thinking involved and there were very few plot holes which tend to ruin things for me. About my only complaint would be the including of tigers on the Witch's side during the battle. Why would one group of animals side with her? Was there a rivalry like that in "Father of the Pride" and the tigers felt slighted that a lion was head honcho?

I did MST3K 3 scenes:
When they were on the train from London: "Get your robes on, everyone! We shall be at Hogwarts soon!"
When the children see the lamp post for the 1st time: "I double dog dare you to stick your tongue to it!"
When Santa presents Peter with the sword: "Is this a Hatorri Hanzo blade?"

*snickers* I thought of the first two MST3K scenes when I saw it. Unfortunatetly... there were children... at a fuckin 11 PM showing. Bad parents, Bad! As for the third scene, I was waiting for something along the lines of "I'VE GOOOT THE POOOOOOOOOOOOWEEEEEEEEEEER!" Mebbe it's just me, lol...

Did you notice all the types of animals that were siding with her? Wolves, Polar Bears, Siberian Tigers...all animals very suited for and comfortable in winter climates.

Cheetahs, jaguars, and rhinos...not so much. :-P

Come to think of it, yeah, that makes perfect sense. I didn't associate tigers with cold climates, but yep, there are tigers in Siberia. I guess penguins make poor warriors. *lol*

I had the same objection to wolves and polar bears being alligned with the witch. though I guess the polar bears have an excuse: "We don't like the whole 'evil' thing, we're just in favor of whoever's going to keep it winter around here."

One could assume that there are critters of all kinds on both sides, and we only just saw the tigers on the witches' side because white tigers look better on a white background. :)

I haven't seen the movie, but here's my speculation: The novel was written towards the end of his career and after World War II. I suspect that the "White" (normally considered a color of good) actually refers to the Aryan race and Nazism. Hence the use of white tigers and other white animals.

I kinda wondered on the whole "who's on who's side" deal myself. Maybe there is a chance for all creatue's to fight for Aslan. The fox came over, did he not? And the polar bears pulling that sliegh into battle?, they looked like they were slaves to me.

I could see that the polar bears could be slaves. I just wish they would put all of the animals on one side and all of the demons and such on the other. I hate it when Hollywood makes certain animals "good" and others "bad." Poor wolves. They always get a bad rep.

I noticed that too. I don't remember reading anything about specific species on one side or the other, but it kind of sucked to see the taurens, polar bears, tigers, and of course wolves on the bad side. It did give me an idea for a story though...
